Established more than 60 years by world champion boxer, Archie Moore,
and reopened over 30 years ago by his son, Billy Moore, the mission of the ABC Youth Foundation remains the same:
To empower San Diego’s at-risk youth to “Step off into life with their best foot forward, without cowardice but with courage and dignity.”
From its earliest days…
The foundation was concerned with the temptations of gang life and the challenges of poverty in preventing youngsters from reaching their potential. Coach Billy was called to do something about both. Starting by teaching classes in backyards, he now runs the program out of our gym on Market Street. But ABC is about more than boxing; it’s an organization committed to developing life skills and good habits in the next generation.
